Lenex Terre Haute Fabrication Facility Celebrates One Year

Indianapolis, IN (August 2007) - Lenex, an Indianapolis-based steel fabrication company, recently celebrated its Terre Haute facility's one-year anniversary. Purchased from the former Interstate Welding and Fabrication Company in July 2006, the 150,000 square foot fabrication facility underwent capital improvements and currently employs 50 people.

"The Terre Haute facility is the largest steel fabrication facility in the state. It is an important factor in Lenex's continued growth plans," notes Lenex President, Mike Berghoff. "In its first year of operation, we produced 30,000 tons of fabricated steel."

Lenex Steel established operations in 2003 and provides fabricated steel products, including heavy structural steel, columns, and beams for office and institutional building projects. The fully automated, state-of-the-art facility is AISC certified with an A+ rating. With a full-time, risk management resource dedicated to internal and job-site safety, Lenex also celebrated its first year with an accident free record.

"We are fortunate to have an experienced staff supporting our operation. More than 20% of our employees have more than 20 years experience. That is an uncommon statistic in our industry," notes Berghoff.

As part of the 2006 purchase, The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) offered incentives to Lenex including $45,000 in training grants and approximately $305,000 in tax credits based on job creation and capital investment. Current projects underway include the 600,000 square foot expansion of Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis, the recently awarded contracts for Phase I of Carmel City Center and Greater Lafayette Hospital in Lafayette.

Lenex Steel provides fabricated steel and engineering design services throughout Indiana and Ohio. In addition to the Terre Haute facility, Lenex operates a miscellaneous steel fabrication facility in Indianapolis and is also headquartered in Indianapolis.
