Indianapolis, IN - (March 12, 2009): Indianapolis based, Lenex Steel Company, has started to fabricate both structural and miscellaneous steel for construction of the new Parkview Regional Medical Center in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. The $536 million project, managed by Pepper Construction and Weigand Construction, broke ground on September 30, 2008. Nearly 7,000 tons of structural steel will support the 1,000,000 square foot facility that will encompass 115 acres and extend south of the current Parkview North Hospital campus.
"Parkview Health Systems is a big part of Ft. Wayne and the surrounding community," notes Mike Berghoff, President of Lenex Steel. "Furnishing and installing the steel for Parkview is especially meaningful for our company because Ft. Wayne is my hometown. Our family has a long history with the hospital."
Scheduled for completion in late 2011, Parkview Regional Medical Center highlights include:
- 400+ beds with all private rooms
- Heart, neuroscience, and orthopedic specialty centers
- The region’s only verified Level II adult and pediatric trauma center
- Helipad
- Full-service 24/7 Emergency Room
- Conference and education space
- Physicians’ office buildings
- Ronald McDonald House
Fabrication work is currently underway and the first deliveries of steel are scheduled to arrive this summer.
